AR-15 Scopes

I’ve been looking at the “mid-quality” rangefinding AR-15 scopes on the market (The three that are under $1000): 1) Nikon Scope “IRT” 2) Burris “Eliminator” 3) Bushnell “Yardage Pro” I don’t have any shops in my area that carry these, so my “shopping” has been on-line only. These all look like fairly similar scopes. If anyone has experience with any of these, please share your experience. backbencher 5/16/2012 4:34:08 PM From looking @ the specs, all 3 appear to be the same scope, w/ different branding. If it works as advertised, the current light bullet/high velocity idea may well be upended.

Aimpoint PRO

I stuck mine in a LaRue mount because I did not like the huge knob on the QRP mount. Very happy with it so far. My question was based on the premise that price is not a factor. KaseyK

Magpul Handguards

6/6/2012 7:54:32 PM rx7dryver: H53EXPERT: I don’t understand how Magpul Handguards can be too big. You rest the front of the rifle on your hand, and wrap your fingers up as much as they will go. There is no reason to have to be able to wrap your hand all the way, or even anywhere near to all the way, around the handguard. It is certainly not necessary to wrap you hand around them. I guess I am used to thinner profile rifle stocks. I cut my teeth using narrow rifle stocks such as those found on a Winchester featherweight, Savage 99 and the like. I know what you mean. Most of my handling time has been with M16 and thin carbine size stocks. But having to use different ones is just a matter of adapting. It is like when I have to go to work. I fly throughout the country and have to get a rental car. They all feel different, but I still drive them. hotdog250j
