Canadian Police Use Last Registry Data to Seize 180 Guns from Home
MONTREAL – The federal gun registry may be dead in the rest of Canada but it was put to use this week during a high-profile standoff in Montreal. Police carried 180 guns and 40 bayonets out of a residence on a quiet tree-lined street after the occupant was brought down by rubber bullets early Wednesday, ending the incident that had gone on almost a full day. Montreal police have confirmed they consulted the registry during the standoff to learn about their suspect but… [Vancouver Sun (British Columbia), via GunPolicy.org]
A Grip Pod is an innovative weapon stabilization system with integrated vertical fore grip for certain automatic weapons and assault rifles. The weapon has a strong and stable Bipod for aimed firing to give a grip on the weapon and their leg position’s that mounts at the push button of the user. This not only transforms the weapon into a much handier one but also helps avoiding it from losing its position of firing. These grip attachments manufactured from aerospace materials are specially designed for the military and law enforcements.
This automatic system was created back in 2003. Mr. Joseph R. Moody and Mr. Joseph D. Gaddini laid the foundation. This has successfully been accepted and implemented by the United States Army and Air Force, U.S.M.C, FBI, DEA, Customs Border Patrol, National Guard, British Army and special forces and federal agencies worldwide.
The Grip Pod is not like the usual conventional vertical grips. Rather it enables the gun to perform the bi-pod function to be used on the ground when used from a seated position. This technique is called the simple snap and release design technique.
There is a thick button designed with a texture feel on the side of the Pod. This proves to be helpful in providing grip while firing incase if it’s windy or even raining. By installing the Bipod system we ensure that the rifle will stably hold any surface, be it a table, ground, or any rough surface for that matter and extended in all relevant positions, if sitting or even lying down.
The materials used to design the bipod are high density polymers or stainless steel depending upon the grades. They can be stated flexible because of their strong traction to stabilize and hold the ground well. And this Flexibility proves to be an additional favorable feature as it easily recoils.
Now, the polymers used for different grades are:
Both the models are exceptionally good products. Stainless steel is costlier than any other polymer which means that the law enforcement model is cheaper than the military model.
There are various other models available in the market. There are companies who manufacture genuine models but there are companies who manufacture imitation models also. Like any imitation items available in terms of food, jewelry, electronics we prefer to buy the genuine ones over the imitations simply because they are safe and last longer.
Likewise, while buying the Grip pods, it should be 100% genuine and authentic. There is not much difference in the looks of a genuine and an imitation one but its durability and life surely varies.
The materials used are not completely authentic. Over a period of time system loses its grip or even breaks because it is made up of cheap material. The wing nut also strips that were used when being tightened the barrels.
So, be careful while picking up and prefer genuine products as they last longer.

Biden Regroups, Promises Fight
At a press conference this week, Vice President Joe Biden (D) warned that he and the Obama administration have not given up on their proposed gun control measures, declared that the administration would “beat” NRA by passing gun control measures, and vowed that legislators who oppose the administration on gun control will “pay a political price” for doing so. As reported in the Washington Post, Biden said to an audience that included Attorney General Eric H. Holder Jr. and Homeland Security Secretary Janet Napolitano, “As proud as the president and I am of progress we’ve made, we need Congress to act. We need everyone in the country to know the fight is not over. Far from it.” He further stated, “Janet Napolitano has not given up. Eric Holder has not given up.” Biden renewed the administration’s call for “universal” background checks and reminded attendees that gun control remains on the administration’s agenda despite a major defeat in the U.S. Senate in April. “Because of the invocation of a rule, a perverted filibuster rule requiring 60 votes for everything, we lost,” said Biden.
Alaska: Governor protects Second Amendment rights
Continuing his commitment to fight for and defend Alaskans’ Second Amendment rights, Governor Sean Parnell today signed several firearm and self-defense bills into law. The governor was joined by numerous legislators, including House Speaker Mike Chenault and Senate President Charlie Huggins, and Brian Judy of the National Rifle Association as he signed the package of bills in support of Alaskans’ Second Amendment rights.
NRA and CRPA Orange County Carry Suits Lead to Appeal
Opening another front in the Right-to-Carry battle, on Sept. 5, a lawsuit backed by the NRA and the California Rifle and Pistol Association was filed against Orange County, Calif. and Orange County Sheriff Sandra Hutchens in the U.S. District Court for the Central District of California. The suit (McKay v. Hutchens) was filed on behalf of several Orange County residents who have been denied carry licenses and seeks to remedy Sheriff Hutchens’ discriminatory licensing practice of requiring “good cause,” which the complaint defines as “a special or contemporaneous ‘need’ to defend oneself – something more than ‘general concerns about personal safety.’”

2/17/2012 1:30:46 PM danc46: We bought this sofa for $1350: http://www.mathisbrothers.com/prodimg/usa/enlarged/vplw-6850%5E04730-stout.jpg And this Bernhardt recliner for $900: http://www.mathisbrothers.com/prodimg/bht/standard/bht-129rlo.jpg I flipped each one of them over to check the frames and springs. Both were well built comparing them to the sofa and chair we’ve had for 20+ years. The ones we had held up really well so these should do good too. I think treating them with a leather holsters conditioner and sealer 3 to 4 times a year will keep them in good shape. I looked at the seams on the cushions and they seemed to be really well done too. I’m not so worried about the hides on the furniture as I am the actual frames and cushions. That’s where you need to really be careful. I looked at the bernhardt stuff; didn’t much care for it; reminded me of office furniture; can’t for the life of me remember the name of the one we liked most; looked on bobmills site and can’t find it listed. but couch with chair/ottoman set was $2100+; the couch with love seat set was $1800+. danc46
